Sustainable Development Goals

With local partnerships, SLE Global strives to develop affordable accommodation and create safe, secure, and sustainable communities in Sub-Saharan Africa. Our actions, projects, and businesses are aimed to (in)directly support the following United Nations Sustainable Development goals:

Goal 1: No Poverty

Our objection is to offer all its employees fair wages, long-term commitments, and private retirement plans. Local farmers and other small business suppliers are offered long-term contracts to ensure their financial resilience.

Goal 2: Zero Hunger

We strive to offer healthy, nutritious, and affordable meal plans to all its students and employees. Our farm-to-fork approach ensures close cooperation with local rural communities to improve their food production.

Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being

Our objection is to grant access to basic healthcare services, medicines, and vaccines to all its participating students and employees via affordable collective insurances offered by allying local healthcare and insurance organizations.

Goal 4: Quality Education

Our campuses are designed, developed, and operated to enable students to thrive in a self-sustainable live-work-learn environment; allowing for cultural and international diversity, gender, and disability safe accessible environment.

Goal 5: Gender Equality

Our campuses allow for both genders to thrive in a safe and secure environment. Student accommodations and sanitation are gender-specific while communal areas, sporting, study facilities, etc. are for all equally accessible.

Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation

Our campuses use purified local water resources to offer each student daily a min. of 4-liter highest quality potable water and to ensure 24/7 the use of the kitchen and sanitation facilities. Wastewater will be treated and reused for irrigation.

Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy

Our objective is to provide 24/7 affordable electricity and warm water by using a mix of renewable energy supplied by solar collectors and biomass gasifiers.

Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

We strive to create local sustainable communities and deploy locals for day-to-day operations; students are encouraged to socially support and gain paid work experience. Our farm-to-fork approach supports local sustainable production.

Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure

Our focus is to retrofit the hospitality industry by deploying innovative, sustainable resource-efficient building, water, and energy technologies. Exposure to these technologies will encourage greater adoption by local industries.

Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities

Our policy promotes no discriminatory actions and ensures their students, employees, and suppliers equal opportunities and fair wages which are independent of age, gender, disability, origin, religion, or economic or another status.

Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities

Our objection is to supply safe and affordable accommodation with basic services, communal and publicly accessible facilities. Local and rural communities are an integral part of the supplied value chain to create sustainable student livelihoods.

Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

Our campuses supply affordable accommodation with a minimal environmental footprint for energy and water. Waste is separately collected, recycled or used for energy and irrigation. Students are fully involved in this holistic approach.

Goal 13: Climate Action

We recognize that daily life at campuses is a great opportunity to shape sustainability awareness with the students. Campuses are designed, developed, and operated to demonstrate to students the impact of daily life on climate.

Goal 17: Partnership for the Goals

We work actively with international and local partners to introduce and finance sustainable technologies and methods at their campuses and beyond in order to support the share of knowledge and to achieve the necessary sustainable impact.
